Love (through the eyes of a 9-year-old)

So, for our journal this morning, I had my kids write a definition of love. You would have thought I had asked them to eat worms by the groans and "eewww"s that I got (actually, eating worms might have gone over better!:)). After being told repeatedly that they could NOT use the dictionary, here is what they came up with.
Student A: "Love is something you like very much. I love my computer. Maybe you love something. You can love many things or people. I think you should love God because he made us."
Student B: "My mom heart love me because she said I is good boy." (ok, so this might seem depressing for fourth grade work, but I was actually encouraged to get an answer like this from this student!)
Student C: "It is about hearts and those kind of stuff. It's like when your parents love you. Or when you make cards for Valentine's Day. Even normal people might wear shirts that say 'love.' Maybe it means that they are loving and kind. That's what love is."
Student D: "Love is a way to show kindness and politeness. I think love is good because if are parents dint love each other. We won't be alive right now. Love you can see when you go to a family. When you kiss your parents you give love. I think love is special."
There you have it.:) Happy Valentine's Day!
