Finally! Here is what has been going in on in my life lately.
1st: The adventures of Ellis. I went to my first real Azeri meal! Let me just come right out and say this. . . it was delicious! We had tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers stuffed with rice and ground meat. I don't remember what it is called here, but in Jordan we called it kusa mah'she. There was bread and layered salad stuff. And, for dessert, there were wafer cookies, fruit, fruit preserves, and (of course) tea. Our (J, G, and I) hosts were super nice. Lots of fun, food, laughter, and even a little arm wrestling. At one point, I (Ellis, which apparently is what they decided to call me. you know, it's close.:)) was able to show off my amazing pronunciation of Azerito the wonderment of all. I spoke fluently. . . ok, so actually all I said was insha'allah, which is and means exactly the same thing as it does in Arabic. So ya, I cheated.:) The evening was so much fun! Wonderful people. Sadly, I don't have any pictures of it.
2nd: Snow Day! Yes, I got a snow day. I will confess that, ever since our big staff meeting discussion on what to do in case of a snow day, I have been longing for one. However, any snow that we did get was not sticking, which is incredibly frustrating if you want a snow day. Actually on the way home after my Azeri adventure it was snowing, and a little was sticking to cars, giving me hope that maybe, just maybe the realization of my dreams was actually possible. Well, after weeks of waiting, early one Thursday morning, I got the call, the call that all teachers (and students) who live in places with even a remote chance for snow desire. We had a snow day! It was wonderful. I took some pictures, so you can see what it looked like. :)
Yes, that is how much snow we got. And, yes, I love Baku!:)
3rd: Crocheting. So, I remember when I was little, my Grandma (who is amazing when it comes to crafty type things) taught me and my siblings how to crochet. Well, at least I remember making a really long single chain. Recently, spurred on my amazing sister-in-law and by my successes in knitting, I decided to re-learn or really learn how to crochet. I made a hat! J helped me photograph my handiwork. Keep in mind, please, that it was in the middle of the night that I finished it when viewing said photos.:)
So there you have it: the lowdown on my life. Have I mentioned this before? I love this place and it's people. I am blessed.

4th: Went to "Country Chicken" for supper with K. What country's chicken, you ask? Australia!:)
5th: Went Novrus Hatting (like trick or treating except you take a hat, put it in front of the door, knock, then run hide. The people inside put candy, fruit, nuts, etc. in the hat, close the door back up, and then you go pick up your goodies) with two amazingly cute and fun kids and their mother. Watching them get excited about knocking, then clunking up or down the stairs to hide before someone opened the door, and then checking to see what they got was so much fun!:)So there you have it: the lowdown on my life. Have I mentioned this before? I love this place and it's people. I am blessed.
